Maine Upland Guide Service Fly Fishing (Wading)
A trout on a fly rod is definitely an experience to remember, whether you're in a canoe breaking the mirror-like surface of Grace Pond, or standing mid-stream in the early morning mist of the Dead River. These fish will jump, twist and run while your heart does the same. As you slowly slide your net under the fish, you'll see the reason why we love to spend our days out on the water.
Maine holds 90% of the habitat left in the nation for the highly respected brook trout, a beautiful fish with an olive back, orange or milky white belly and bejeweled with speckles of orange, red and blue. Actually classified as charr belonging to the salmon family, many Maine populations have never been stocked; the populations are native and dating back to the ice age.
